Affco Rangers Withdraw

Waikato Division 1

All teams maintained their positions on the table despite Cameron and Claudelands having byes (due to the withdrawal of Affco Rangers). Wanderers did well to score twice against Hamilton in their 2-6 loss to the division leaders. Hamilton Blue’s 3-1 win over Teachers/Varsity was expected, but the game in doubt was the Tokoroa-Ngaruawahia clash at Tokoroa.

Tokoroa netted first after 15 minutes but Graham (Bowers) later equalised for Ngaruawahia.

In the second half Tokoroa conceeded a penalty. Charlie Gorman drove it straight to the keeper but the referee ruled a re-take and Gorman netted to give Ngaruawahia a 2-1 advantage which they held until the end.

Points: Hamilton 17, Claudelands 13, Ngaruawahia 9, Cameron 6, Hamilton Blue 6, Wanderers 4, Tokoroa 3, Teachers 2.
