A Liddle Penalty-stopper

Waikato Division 1

Having faced six penalties to date this season, goalkeeper Murray Liddle has the enviable record of having stopped four. He came within inches of stopping the fifth when Ngaruawahia met and went down 3-0 to Hamilton Blue. Blue’s first goal came when they connected with a rebound off the keeper, the second from the penalty spot and the third from a tight-angled drive that sped between the diving keeper and the post.

Ngaruawahia came close on several occasions but only once looked like scoring. Northern League winger Hutchinson was dangerous on Hamilton Blue’s wing and set up some probing moves.

Waikato Division 3

Ngaruawahia faced a tough customer when they were beaten 3-1 by Teachers. Having won 5-4 on their previous encounter, Ngaruawahia could not beat the combination put against them.

Junior 7th Grade

Playing in a knockout, Ngaruawahia went down 3-0 to their top opponents from Division 1 but played well against a team with greater experience.

Junior 8th Grade

A 5-0 win was a pleasing result for the boys who teamed well.

Junior 12th Grade

Playing Hillcrest, Ngaruawahia notched up their first win of the season beating their opponents by goals from M. Scott and Stuart Miller to win 2-0. Johnny Duffull, David Bright and David Frankhauser had excellent games and contributed to their teams first win.
