In Inter-school visits the girls were matched against the Hillcrest top side and went down 1-4. Against Huntly, NHS had difficulty fielding a full side and won narrowly 2-0. A trip to Papakura resulted in a 3-0 win. It was interesting to note that Papakura fielded a completely fresh 11 players in the second half! It was Ngaruawahia’s positional play that won through in the end.
NGARUAWAHIA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS
Soccer showed an increase in interest over the past season with an added number of 3rd formers getting involved.
The Juniors were entered in the Form 3B competition. Their first game was away to Te Kuiti and the trip was combined with a vist to the Waitomo Caves. The competition was hard and the team came out on top in the second round through wins over Cambridge and Fairfield and drawing with Huntly.
Juniors to show ability were Sean Miller, Michael McLaren, Darren Allison, Neil Newport, Michael Ringrose, Bhutta Gurmel and Shane Harrison.

The senior boys in the school joined Ngaruawahia United and were catered for in the Waikato 3rd Division. There performance earned them the Waikato Referee’s Association Cup for being the Best and Fairest team of ALL teams in the Waikato.
