Ngaruawahia H.S. Still Undefeated
The Ngaruawahia High School first 11 soccer team remains undefeated after six games in the Waikato secondary school’s second division competition. Four wins and two draws, places them one point below competition leaders Otorohanga, and one point clear of Boys High.
Otorohanga came to Ngaruawahia as the favourites, almost assured of two match points, and had to be content on Saturday with a 2-2 score. Captain Alistair Bell scored twice for the home team and with a little more finishing could have beaten the visitors.
Ngaruawahia must go into the second series of games as favourites for the title, as long as they do not drop a single match point. Their first hurdle is meeting Fairfield at home this Saturday at 9.15. The previous encounter favoured Ngaruawahia 5-2.
2nd 11 Fall to St Pauls
The second 11 (3rd division) were trounced 0-7 by St Pauls, who fielded many players from their first division squad. The Ngaruawahia team height averaged half that of St Pauls. David White, Ngaruawahia’s keeper, excelled himself under the pressure that was put upon him.
