5-2 Soccer Win to United

Waikato 3rd Division

Graham Cairns made the plays that gave Ngaruawahia United third division squad their 5-2 win over their Affco opponents. His flawless playmaking on the wing and precision distribution of the ball made it a simpler task for his fellow forwards to slot home the goals.

Affco had the lead at halftime by two goals to nil but some slight rearrangement of the Ngaruawahia team made the difference. Murray Liddle moved into goal and gave a demonstration of his potential ability.

Jeff McLaughlin and brother Trevor have shown that they are material worthy of this division while playing at centre-half and right wing respectively. Stephen McPherson had a good day in the defence.

Both McPherson and Cairns showed their ability to think their football and read play intelligently.

This will be the first season Ngaruawahia has entered a squad in the third division and the future looks reasonably bright. New players are showing their worth and it will shortly be up to the senior players to prove their worth or be replaced by some of the juniors.
