Soccer Ladies Play First Round
Huntly played the first round of their competition on Sunday with a game against Cameron FC at Ngaruawahia.
Overall a clean game to both sides with Cameron scoring first with a goal by R. Van Houtte. Huntly quickly equalised with a good run by M. Robinson to be finished by N. Phillips. Cameron scored three more times by J. Priest, E. Clancy and J. Priest once more. Huntly could have done much better but bunched for most of the game and Cameron’s off-sides spoiled their chances.
Referee, A. Cotter must be thanked for his fair game, amidst hackling from supporters.
Huntly’s player of the day must undoubtly be Karen Rustin whose hard and brave playing paid off. Runner-up would go to Shirley Baranyai who more than once saved Huntly.
Huntly’s next game is against Affco next Sunday at 12.00 at Huntly.
