An Asset to Soccer Team

Consistency, dependability and agility have been the hallmarks of Ngaruawahia United A.F.C. goalkeeper, Rex Nightingale.

From the moment that he inherited the goalkeeping position in the Ngaruawahia High School 1st XI from Howard Pharo it was to be seen that he would develop into no mean guardian of the nets. While at school he played for both the school and the club teams on the same day and gave of his best for each.

Despite having a solid build, he has the agility to take high balls and low drives safely, even under pressure. Taking the ball from the toes of attacking forwards also has helped to build the confidence of his team-mates.

Being more than a valuable player for his club, he has developed an understanding with his fullbacks, Maurice Frankhouser, Sandy MacDonald and Steven Mark. It has been found that well-engineered attacking probes are the only ones that are most likely to give him concern. His membership of his home-town’s soccer team has been an asset to them and a constant source of pride on the playing field.
