Ngaruawahia Go Down in Final Soccer Game
2nd Division Subsidiary
At Otorohanga in inclement weather Ngaruawahia United went down by 5 goals to 2 in the final game of the season.
Neil Gorman put Ngaruawahia into a good position by gaining two goals in 20 minutes but after that his team folded up. Lack of directional leadership in mid-field was the obvious cause of this as Ian Todd had to play as keeper in the absence of Rex Nightingale.
The goals the Otorohanga put in were gained from low shooting, making maximum use of the slippery conditions to slide the ball under the keeper. The score was 2-2 at the turn.
The match for the Baranyai Cup between Huntly and Ngaruawahia will now be played on September 22, at Huntly at 2.00 p.m.
