High School Soccer Against Raglan

Raglan District High School visited Ngaruawahia High School last Wednesday bringing rugby, netball and soccer players. Not having much in the way of competition at Raglan they brought their soccer team out to gain some tips.

Ngaruawahia did not field their “A” team because of this and gave several promising third-formers a run. Ngaruawahia was all over Raglan in the first half and notched 6 goals to nil. In the second half they were instructed to play the ball about more. This they did and notched 7 further goals.

Raglan played some bright spots of football but could not finish off their moves, Brian Jacobs, Kerry Barakat and Steven George efficiently cleaning up any attacking move. Rex McCowatt had a quiet day in goal, not being called on to extend himself.

Ken Wilson had an excellent game in the forwards as did Graham Cairns who netted four goals. Other players to score were Kerry Thompson (2), Robbie Thompson, Allan Cotter (2), Mark Prendergast, Ken Wilson (2) and Chris Barakat.

Final score 13-0.
