Under-strength Team Gains a Point
Waikato Division 1
An understrength 1st division Ngaruawahia team was able to come away with a single point against Tokoroa from a 2-2 result.
Following a goal-less first half Ngaruawahia’s play fell to pieces in the second spell but surprisingly enough, scored two goals from Alan Rose and Charlie Gorman, both being boomers. Tokoroa’s came from a floater that the wind carried in and a penalty. Tokoroa had previously missed a penalty in the first half.
Fight For Two Points
Waikato Division 3
Ngaruawahia 3rd division had to fight to come away from their Waikeria encounter with two points. After conceeding a goal to Waikeria in the first five minutes, Ngaruawahia ran up a first-half tally of 3-1. The second half was nearly all Waikeria. Their second came when a shot beat keeper MacDonald, struck the upright and rebounded in off the keeper’s back. The 3-2 win (two goals from J. McLaughlin and one own goal) keeps Ngaruawahia up with the leaders in their division.
