Thistle Unimpressive in Win

Huntly Thistle were very unimpressive when, for the second successive week, they defeated Affco Rangers.

In a goal-less first half, Thistle were clearly superior and were unlucky not to be several goals up. One shot worth particular mention was a Doug Snapes effort that nearly broke the crossbar.

The second half was only three minutes old when, following great work by Hugh Malone in the right wing corner, Graham Hancock found himself with the easiest of tap-ins.

Exactly 1 minute later, Hancock once again put the ball in the back of the net only to have it disallowed for offside.

Play from here on out was scrappy and certainly did nothing to give Thistle supporters a great deal to look forward to. Thistle’s second goal was almost an individual effort from his own half by Allen Nobilo. And that’s how it finished 2-0 to Thistle.

Thistle have only four games left to play and on Saturday’s performance will be very lucky to get a point out of each. However if they all worked as hard as they should, they are capable of getting maximum points out of these four games and who knows where that would put them in the league table – fourth, third or maybe even second.

Huntly Dry Cleaners player of the day went to the very consistent G. Hancock and D. Snapes.
