Ngaruawahia High School in Double Draws
Both Ngaruawahia High School soccer teams had their progress in the Secondary Schoolboy soccer competition slowed by Hamilton Boys High on Saturday with draws.
The third division were down 3-4 with goals from Peter Harrop, Grant Cathro and Andrew Bell, and with only a few minutes remaining it was the 18 metre drive of Glen Solomon that earned the boys a match point.
The second division squad had a similar situation, again with Hamilton Boys High leading 3-2 with only minutes remaining. Philip Jerry had opened the scoring from halfway with a lob shot, with Dean Haggie netting the second to have Ngaruawahia trailing 2-3 at the turn. Captain Alistair Bell received a pass from the wing to earn his team’s single point in the dying stages.
Results: 3rd div: Boys High 4, Ngaruawahia 4. 2nd div: Ngaruawahia 3, Boys High 3.
