Players
- Play for the ‘fun of it’ not just to please your parents or coach
- Play hard, but play by the rules
- Never argue with the referees decisions, let your coach ask any questions
- Recognise positive contributions made by team-mates and opposition
- Treat all players as you would like to be treated
- Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents, for without them you don’t have a game
- Respect all property provided by your parents, coach and club
- Win with humility, lose with dignity
Parents
- Remember, children are involved for their enjoyment, not yours
- Encourage your child to always play by the rules
- Teach your child that honest effort is as important as victory
- Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or losing a game
- Remember that children learn best by example
- Comments from the sideline need to be unbiased and positive
- Respect the referees decision
- Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and managers.
- Any inappropriate behaviour reflects badly on your child, the team and your club
- Applaud good play by your own team and the opposition
- Show respect for your teams opponents, without them there would be no games
- Condemn the use of violence and bad language in all forms
Coaches
- Players need a coach that they can respect. Be generous with your praise when it is deserved and set a good example
- Be reasonable on your demands on young players time, energy and enthusiasm
- Ensure that all players are given the opportunities to play
- Never yell at or ridicule a player for making a mistake
- Develop team respect for the judgement of referees
- Follow the advice of a doctor in determining when an injured player is fit to play again
- Insist on fair and disciplined play do not tolerate foul play, fighting or bad language. Be prepared to take off the offending player
If there is a breach of this Code of Conduct, you may asked to leave the grounds.
